If you are looking to keep up your child’s math skills throughout the summer, think about signing your child up for Introduction to Pre-Algebra. This class will give students an opportunity to review math skills and begin to find “x”.
These courses are designed for all level of students looking to review the instructional information they just finished learning during the 20-21 school year. Teachers will review important curriculum topics and provide students with additional enrichment topics. These classes will provide a strong academic foundation before students enter the 21-22 school year and their next math class.
A fun way for students to gain knowledge of Geometry while being able to apply their pre-Algebra 1 skills to this new type of math. This course is great for students who will be taking CP Geometry or 8th grade Geometry in the fall.
For accelerated or honor level students going into 9th grade.

Have you ever wanted to design and build your own mobile app.? Build your own game, create an application to help with a daily task, or anything else you are interested in designing. Imagine creating your own application that can be published to the Apple Store or Google Play Store? Are you interested in learning how to code using Thunkable? All you need is an iphone or android phone and the desire to learn!
Students entering Biology or are interested in Biology will be given an opportunity to explore different topics. This class is taught by a RHS Biology teacher and will help students enhance their laboratory skills while doing hands on Biology activities. See HS Enrichment section for more information.
Middle School students who like science, take this class!!! You will get an opportunity to do fun and interesting experiments like making Gluep and Gigantic Bubbles from homemade soap concoctions. Students will be able to participate in this class safely in the virtual environment with typical (age-appropriate) household products.
*There will be a small required list of supplies that will need to be purchased before taking the class.
Come join us for the most creative, challenging, and competitive time of your summer. Each day you will work on a new design challenge like building the highest spaghetti tower, the farthest flying paper rocket, a ping pong catapult, the longest marble run, or a parachute that slowly drops an egg out of a window without breaking. We’ll use everyday household items to plan, build and try out different designs. You can think outside the box, inside the box, on top of the box or just not use the box at all! All you need is creativity and an open mind. You will work in teams to complete each challenge, learn some basics of design and engineering, and along the way have some fun.
FTC Robotics is a class to prepare students interested in competing on an FTC (First Technology Challenge) Team in high school OR to gain experience with building and programming robots. Students are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots. It is an introduction to the design process and an opportunity to broaden and develop experience in building and programming robots. If numbers permit we will have a competition among teams to overcome specific challenges and obstacles. Through this experience, students can develop a greater appreciation of science and technology and how they can incorporate this knowledge in the real world. They also cultivate life skills such as brainstorming, planning, creative problem solving, engineer design, research, collaboration, and application.

Dive into a STEM learning opportunity with Legos. LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 makes building, programming and commanding your own LEGO robots smarter, faster, and more fun than ever. Students will be given an opportunity to be in control of robots that drive, slither, walk, slam, and spin – to name just a few!

Middle School students who enjoy writing who are fascinated with how journalists find their stories can be part of this class. Students will research local stories and put together a small newspaper by the end of the session. They will improve their writing skills with a real world look at what it takes to be a journalist.
This course grounds students in the essentials of poetry and fiction writing through peer and teacher feedback, exposure to great literature, and helpful revision and editing techniques. Instruction is equally divided between the two disciplines. Students will have the opportunity to build a portfolio of creative work through in-class and out-of-class exercises, modeling, and workshop. Students are invited to share some of their writing in workshops or prepare it for submission to publications and contests like the prestigious Scholastic Art and Writing Awards (for grades 7-12).
This class allows students to enhance their writing skills while looking at different types of historical references. Students will get an opportunity to practice writing DBQ’s as well as work through the peer editing process. This class offers incoming 9th graders with an excellent opportunity to learn important writing strategies from a High School English Teacher (special ed background).

Incoming 6th graders will get the lowdown on how middle school will work before they get there. Students will learn how to use the technology they need to support their learning. Students will learn how to organize their google drive and different technology tips for both tradition and virtual learning. Students will learn how to communicate with teachers and other staff members using email, google chat and other online communication (including google calendar). Students will also learn about the rotating schedule, how to handle changes in friend groups, how to advocated for themselves with teachers, how to handle difficulties with teachers, time management, how to utilize after school help or help online using 'office hours', how to check skyward, how to check emails and create folders, how to navigate google classroom, how to use google docs and much more.
Everyone’s favorite art class is here! Explore tie-dye techniques for the middle school artist. Bring your own shirts, socks, or favorite clothing and we will explore fun and colorful tie-dye styles. Learn how to create the chevron, scrunch, or the popular spiral pattern. You’ll wear your masterpieces with pride.
Note - Clothing does not need to be brand new. Bring your favorite light-colored comfy favorites. 100% cotton or 50/50% cotton/polyester blends will work best.
Sculpt crazy creatures and make other fun creations out of our high-quality air-dry clay. Have fun building small-scale sculptures while exploring various additive building techniques. No kiln needed!
Have fun learning the basics of cartooning. We will explore several different cartoon styles. We may explore Manga, Disney, Superheroes, and more. We’ll use live drawing techniques, reference videos and “how-to” instructions from well known artists.
Do you love to make wearable jewelry? Join us for some fun bracelet making! We will be using embroidery thread to create several different styles of bracelets and anklets. Wear your work home or share it with a friend.
Perspective is about the relationships of objects to one another. Have fun creating one-point and two-point perspective drawing projects. Learn how to make 3-D letters, cityscapes, and more!
Calling all FOODIES!!!!
Students will learn to create recipes from scratch that are fun and exciting to make. Students will begin their adventures by making savory dishes like homemade pizza, pancakes, and pasta. During the second week, students will travel into the world of baking making banana bread, shortbread cookies, and cupcakes just to mention a few.
