NOTE: New Credit Business classes are based on a semester class. These classes are available for all currently enrolled High School students.
Rising freshmen are not eligible to take business courses for credit, but can take any of the eligible courses for DECA eligibility.
-Introduction to Business, Financial Literacy (Personal Finance), & Entrepreneurship will fulfill the state requirement for graduation.
**Entrepreneurship, Intro to Marketing and Introduction to Business CAN be used for DECA enrollment. **

For those students who are interested in becoming DECA eligible (rising freshmen-rising seniors) but are NOT looking for business credit, an asynchronous (self-paced) project-based course will be offered.

We’ve expanded our curriculum to bridge the gap between analytical research and spontaneous performance, ensuring you can think like a manager and speak like an executive.
What You’ll Master:
1. Strategic Market Research
Stop guessing and start proving. We’ll move beyond basic searches to help you gather insights that "wow" judges.
2. Project Management for Competitors
DECA’s Project Management events are modeled after the PMBOK Guide. We’ll break down the five phases of a project life cycle.
3. The Role Play "Power-Up"
Learn to use Project Management and Research as your secret weapons in the prep room.
Financial Literacy Curriculum- FOR NEW CREDIT
Entrepreneurship – New Credit
Rising 9-12 Graders
In this course, students will develop and write a business plan for a business of their choice. This will involve independent research and writing that goes along with a structured lesson plan. The capstone project will involve presenting ideas and concepts in the fashion of a Shark Tank episode. This class is DECA approved for all students. Rising freshmen may audit this course so as to be DECA eligible, but please note it will not appear on your high school transcript as you are between middle school and high school at the time of the course.
Introduction to Marketing – New Credit
Rising 9-12 Graders
This course involves understanding the psychology behind convincing consumers to buy your product. The course load includes understanding the materials involved in a marketing plan as well as application of marketing concepts to an assigned product which acts as a capstone project. This course is DECA eligible. Rising freshmen may audit this course so as to be DECA eligible, but please note it will not appear on your high school transcript as you are between middle school and high school at the time of the course.
Introduction to Business – New Credit
Rising 9-12 Graders
In this course students will be introduced to business terminology, concepts, and current business issues. A core purpose of the course is for students to experience a broad overview of business-related concepts in order to determine potential future course interests within the business department. The course is divided into three main units: entrepreneurship, marketing, and finance. During the entrepreneurship and marketing units students are introduced to basic core concepts. Students will modify an existing product/service in an innovative way to better serve the customers and create a marketing plan. The finance unit introduces students to personal financial literacy concepts including, but not limited to checking/savings accounts, loans/credit cards, budgeting, and planning for your future. This course is DECA approved for all students AND fulfills the financial literacy graduation requirement. Rising freshmen may audit this course so as to be DECA eligible, but please note it will not appear on your high school transcript as you are between middle school and high school at the time of the course.
Finance – New Credit
Rising 10-12 Graders
This course involves looking at establishing strong budgeting skills and planning for a financial future. Some materials learned in this course include budgeting strategies, taxes, investments, and paying for college. The capstone project for this course includes researching and planning out living expenses, such as rent and food, based on an assigned job location. This course is NOT DECA eligible unless already a member of the program.
