At Ridgeview High School, instruction involves delivering meaningful lessons to students in their classrooms, small groups, and individual sessions. The ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors guide the instruction. Our goal is to help support student growth in academics, career readiness, and social-emotional development. We strive to improve attendance, encourage students to reach their full potential, and promote respectful and responsible behavior.
Counselors work with students to review their test scores and personal surveys to learn about their strengths, interests, and skills. With this information, students can start setting goals, both short-term and long-term, to help them succeed in school, relationships, and planning for their future.
Counselors guide students as they explore their options and figure out what they are good at. Through conversations and activities, we can help students learn about opportunities that fit and inspire them. All of these things help support students' growth and future plans.
When students encounter issues that affect their school success, counselors can be there to help. School counselors are here to offer short-term, one-on-one support to help them understand what's going on and how to move forward.
School counselors support students by connecting with teachers, parents, and others to gather helpful information and ideas. School counselors share strategies and resources so that everyone working with a student is on the same page and can support them in the best way possible.
School counselors work together with parents, teachers, administrators, and other community members to gather information, insights, and recommendations that will benefit students. By working with other professionals, school counselors can ensure they are supporting students in the best possible way. It is a team effort to guarantee student success.
Sometimes there are situations that students might need help that goes beyond what can be offered in a school setting. When situations like these arise, school counselors can connect students and their families with outside services like tutoring, job training, or mental health support. By helping students with referrals, it ensures that they get the continued help they need.
