Teachers select reading materials for students to use on a weekly basis; These materials can be used for small group, whole group or independent student instruction.. When selecting reading materials for students, it is critical that educators are aware of the various types of ideas and images that are contained in reading materials. Educators must work to provide reading materials that are not biased. In this training, guidelines will be presented that can be used to evaluate reading materials for bias. Participants are asked to bring reading materials to have hands-on practice during the session.
