Kristy Marler-Weiner & Ivana O'Kelly
Participants will need their laptops. This session builds on Part 1 providing you the educator-protected time to explore and create your own ebook. So often we are bombarded with e-tools without being given the time to actually navigate their functions.
Participants will be able to take the time to thoroughly engage with this incredible tool and see firsthand how to integrate it into their lessons.
Participants will explore ways on how they can use this tool to reach beyond the classroom and connect with the greater community such as other faculty, parents or community groups. You will feel leaving a sense of accomplishment and full of ideas on how you can integrate this resource into your project-based lessons and or blended learning environments. Book Creator is for all K-12 students. This tool can be used to help support diverse learners to stay engaged through all K-12 content areas.

Crowdsourcing via Student Hackathons
Nathan O'Neill
Why do we spend so much time planning and creating FOR students when really we should be doing more WITH students? Why don't we spend more time crowdsourcing ideas and innovations from our kids? Consider hosting a student HACKATHON where you give students 1) a voice in what problems they see around our schools, 2) a chance to ideate solutions using design thinking and then 3) a shot at implementing top ideas! This session will give you a few real-world examples of how to host such an event and some resources in making it happen at your school. Participants will find this an empowering and rewarding session. It's a one stop shop for 21st Century Skills development!
