The Rice Lake Area School District consists of three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and alternative programming. The Library Media Specialists currently serve the students who are housed in the elementary schools, the middle school, and the high school. Each school staffs a library media aide to assist with the operation of the library media center. The use of the library media centers is a combination of fixed and flexible scheduling, which allows students and staff to access the facilities on a regular basis and as needed.
The District has two licensed, full-time library media specialists, three full-time and three part-time library media aides.
Staff members collaborate with the LMS to plan lessons that are integrated with the use of the Wisconsin Standards for Information and Technology Literacy (ITL). The Big6 research process is our model that is used to guide students through completing an integrated research project. As the Common Core Standards are woven into the curriculum, the library media specialists play an integral role instructing students and staff on proper research processes and ensuring each library media center houses a balanced collection of materials to support the needs of the curriculum. As curriculums are changing, a goal for our department is to ensure that we are meeting the needs of students by using the Wisconsin Standards for Information and Technology Literacy (ITL), adopted November 2017. This is in support of the following District Vision and District Mission Statement.
