It is a California Graduation Requirement- Assembly Bill 469
Who is eligible to complete the CADAA:
Students who live in California and meet the eligibility requirements for a non-resident exemption, as well as students who have a U Visa or TPS status, can use the California Dream Act application (CADAA). Similarly, students without Social Security Numbers or students who have lost DACA status (or never applied for DACA), may still be eligible. The full language of the law and eligibility requirements is stated in CA Education Code 68130.5.

Why Should you complete the CADAA:
Allows students to be considered for state aid, institutional aid, and loans.
It’s Free!
It is quick to complete! It takes an average of 30 minutes to complete, seriously that is less than one episode of your favorite TV show (The Office for me)
It can be essential for some schools! Some schools and private scholarships will require you to complete it.
It is a high school graduation requirement
And most importantly, it provides you with the opportunity to have post secondary options
CHECKLIST FOR THE CA DREAM APPLICATION:
Be aware of AB 540/ SB 68 requirements. In order for DREAM aid to be released, students must meet these requirements. U visa holders and students with TPS are eligible. T visa holders should apply through FAFSA.
Create a username and password for the CA Dream Application. Save them somewhere safe, where you won’t forget!
Complete the application by the priority deadline!
The following information is needed: 2022 tax information, untaxed income, bank statements, household size, number in college, etc.
List all colleges and universities where you plan on applying.
Submit your CA Dream application and review the confirmation page immediately to check for errors. Ensure your parent signs the application.
Check the online portal at each college or university for information regarding your financial aid award at that school
Community College students can apply for CA College Promise Grant. Additional paperwork may be required.
