This is a specialty program for grades 6-8 that meets in the Media Center during enrichment time for the entire year. Students who are accepted into the program will be enrolled in a special Canvas course to access related materials.
We will start to meet during enrichment after One Book, One School starting on Tuesday, September 2nd.
Battle of the Books is a lot of reading, but also a lot of fun. Participants are required to be at an advanced ELA level and to read 6 of 10 titles off a specific list of SC book award nominees. They must pass quizzes on those books to be eligible to compete. Access is provided to all of the titles as part of the program. We do activities and practice battles to help us prepare for a big competition against other Rock Hill middle schools. Questions are asked about specific details in the books, and you must be able to correctly identify which book it is from in a limited amount of time. After the official battle, we will enter contest opportunities and do other book studies based off interests of the group.
