Before you select:
Read through all the choices.
Be aware, if necessary, of what subjects you may need for a particular pathway you are interested in.
When ready:
Go to your KAMAR Web Portal --> Course Selection --> Read and follow the instructions at the top of the page.
You will:
Select TWO modules (semester courses that combine two learning areas), one each for Semester 1 & 2 and two Alternates for each semester (4 alternates in total). Select a Level 3 module for Semester 2 if your pathway is to gain NCEA Level 3 and UE.
Select THREE SPECIALIST courses and three Alternates.
Select ONE Puna Wānanga.
Note: If you have not achieved your Literacy and Numeracy corequisite from the CAAs or tagged LitNum Standards, you should select an EXLIT and/or EXNUM EXPLORE course to enable you to meet this requirement. Discuss with your Kaiarahi (Whānau teacher) to make sure this is the best option for you.
For some Year 12 students who are already achieving at higher levels, there's an option to enrol in Level 3 MASTERY classes. There are clear criteria for eligibility and you will need to complete this separate form. It is advised, however, to initially select SPECIALIST courses during the selection process and then your timetable will be changed if you meet the criteria.
If you will be in Year 12 in 2026, but feel you would be best served by enrolling in an EXPLORE course or courses, select the relevant Specialist course(s) on the KAMAR web portal, but complete this separate form.
