Rebecca Lai, Executive Board Chair

By the grace of God, our Executive Board (EB) members managed to hold our virtual quarterly meetings faithfully and even a fifth meeting to discuss transitional work to 2022’s leadership. As the EB chair, I thank the dedicated support from our pastoral team, the overall direction provided by the Deacon Board, the diligence of all members on the EB and, more importantly, all the background volunteers who offered their time and talents without a recognized role at the EB level.
With the continual interference of COVID in our community and intermittent opening/closing of our church building, it has been difficult for all ministries to plan ahead and let alone implement the planned activities. However, God opened our eyes by providing us amazing evangelical opportunities much beyond our expectations. The new norm drove a few structural changes to how the ministries operated in 2021. We could not accomplish our plans within the physical church building and that worried us. Yet with the extensive use of Zoom connections, surprised with great joy, our activities reached out to a lot more participants beyond the local community and even to those living outside of Canada.
We are not immune from COVID in 2022 and it becomes inevitable to adapt our activities around this pandemic. I ask that we all pray for the 2022 EB leaders and are willing to be participative and supportive to the upcoming leadership cheerfully with our gifts and talents.
