Historical Prose 

This course entails translating and analyzing selections from Books 1, 4, 5 and 4 of Caesar’s de bello Gallico. Students will be expected to translate selections accurately, identify forms and constructions, and analyze content and style. In-class discussions will concentrate on analyzing the literary and rhetorical devices as related to the overarching themes and content, and the nature of Roman government, leadership and duty as it relates to the genre of Latin prose.

Students must take this course for the whole year in order to receive credit.  Students in Latin IV who receive at least a C will receive UCONN credit.


NOTE: To be eligible to receive UCONN credit a student: must be in his/her junior or senior year; must have achieved a B- or better in 3rd or 4th year language; and have no break in language sequence.
