The course introduces students to college writing, which includes posing questions, developing sustained intellectual projects, and generating knowledge that invites engagement with wide and varied audiences. There is a focus on scholarly reading, critical thinking, and both written and spoken expression with a concentration on writing in multiple modalities. In addition to formal essays, the studio component of the course requires students to write in a variety of styles and formats including but not limited to infographics, podcasts, videos, and interviews. Writing projects in this course will be grounded in a course-long inquiry of a specific topic. Students have the option to apply for four (4) semester hours of college credit. Students must register for this opportunity by the deadline and are responsible for all fees.
