Reading for Success is a one semester course designed to assist students in developing and refining critical reading skills and strategies for school, post-high school, employment, college, and lifelong learning. Through formal and informal assessments, the teacher will identify each student’s reading strengths and needs, which will be used to plan individualized, tiered instruction to remediate deficiencies and/or meet individual reading goals. Students will be given opportunities to apply these new skills and strategies in interpreting and analyzing nonfiction as well as literary works of fiction. Students may take this semester course more than once as a humanities elective credit.
