English 10-2 is a course designed to help the sophomore student improve critical thinking, reading and writing skills as well as organization and study habits. In this integrated course, the student will receive assistance in developing critical reading/viewing skills to analyze and evaluate a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts. In addition, the student will employ the writing process to create informative, argumentative, and critical analysis essays. Instruction focuses on the structure, organization and development of each essay type. A variety of activities such as cooperative groups, class discussions, and individual and group presentations help the student improve listening and speaking skills. Throughout the year, the student will be provided with instruction in organization and study skills.
