0.5 RHAM Credit. 3 CCSU Credits
The Introduction to Early Childhood Studies course is offered as a dual enrollment course with Central Connecticut State University. Students have the opportunity to earn 3 college credits.
This course, part of the education pathway pipeline, focuses on the foundational and theoretical underpinnings of the social and emotional development of infants and toddlers to early childhood from birth through five. In it, students identify foundations of development for Infant/Toddler and Young Children. At the end of the course candidates should be able to identify developmentally appropriate practices in different types of programs that develop and promote the social, emotional, and mental development of infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
Central Connecticut State University’s Teacher Pipeline provides academically motivated students with the opportunity to take university courses while in high school. These challenging courses allow students to preview college work, build confidence in their readiness for college, and earn college credits that provide both an academic and a financial head-start on a college degree and other postsecondary opportunities. CCSU Teacher Pipeline Instructors are high school teachers certified as CCSU dual enrollment Instructors by the University. To support rigorous learning, CCSU academic resources are available to all CCSU Teacher Pipeline students.
