The Education in a Multicultural Society course is offered as a dual enrollment course with Central Connecticut State University. Students have the opportunity to earn 3 college credits.
This is an introductory course part of the education pathway pipeline that is focused on the evolving purposes and roles of education and teachers in American society, issues of diversity and equity in education, and the societal and cultural factors, key policies, and court cases that have shaped education in the U.S. For those pursuing an eventual degree in education, this course falls in Study Area III: Behavioral Science (Courses that focus on the interaction(s) between and among individuals and/or groups and social/cultural institutions.)
Central Connecticut State University’s Teacher Pipeline provides academically motivated students with the opportunity to take university courses while in high school. These challenging courses allow students to preview college work, build confidence in their readiness for college, and earn college credits that provide both an academic and a financial head-start on a college degree and other postsecondary opportunities. CCSU Teacher Pipeline Instructors are high school teachers certified as CCSU dual enrollment Instructors by the University. To support rigorous learning, CCSU academic resources are available to all CCSU Teacher Pipeline students.
