EMT Details

Emergency Medical Technicians are first responders who typically work in ambulances and provide basic life support care to people who are injured or ill. The RHAM EMT course prepares students to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exams, which then lead to state certification to practice as an EMT in Connecticut. Students must be at least 16 years old to take the NR-EMT exams at the end of the course. This certification process is optional and students can choose to take the course for RHAM credit only. There is also an option to earn 4 UConn Applied Health credits. Contact the instructor for details.

This is a very challenging Honors course with a rigorous application process and high standards for success. It is recommended for students interested in careers as first responders or other health care professions.
