What does a school counselor do?

School counselors work closely with students, teachers, parents, and the community to help students have a successful and positive school experience.

Some students simply need someone to listen and check-in with sometimes. Other students may need help developing an academic, personal, or social plan. School counselors work with students individually, in small groups, and in classrooms to help them succeed.

Areas of expertise for school counselors include academic, career, and personal social development. Additionally, I have professional interests in trauma, gifted/talented education, and college/career readiness.
