What is Direct Admissions (SB 2314)?
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Texas high school students must complete a new graduation requirement related to My Texas Future, the state’s direct-admissions program.
What do seniors need to do?
Before graduating, students must choose one of the following:
OPT IN: Create/maintain a My Texas Future profile and allow the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to share certain academic information with participating colleges for direct-admission opportunities.
OR
OPT OUT: Complete the required opt-out form indicating that you do not want to participate in the direct-admissions data-sharing program.
Information used for the direct-admissions program may include items such as:
GPA
Class rank
Graduation plan
SAT/ACT scores
Important:
This is now part of the Texas high school graduation requirements for students enrolled during the 2026–2027 school year. Completing the opt-out process is an alternative to participating in direct admissions.
Bottom Line:
👉 You must make an OPT-IN or OPT-OUT election before you graduate as this is a new state graduation requirement.
