I would like to challenge you to draw for 20 minutes a day. Another option in this challenge is to fill up one blank sheet of paper with as many drawings as you would like. Check out the "Ideas for Drawing" below for a list of subjects that you can choose from for inspiration, and there are step-by-step instructions for a few different drawing projects below that. I will participate in this Art Challenge with you and feel free to reach out if you need any help with any of these activities or would like to chat (504)-606-1482.

is an African-American graphic artist who created graffiti street-style art that was political and based off of his experience as a black man as well as social status. He was born in December of 1960 in Brooklyn, NY.

Our focus for this week of art is studying the paintings and style of arts created by Wassily Kandinsky. Wassily Kandinsky was born in December 1866 in Moscow, Russia. As a child he loved music and learned to play the piano and the cello.

Bubble Wand (from a container bottle of bubbles)

White Cardstock Paper (Heavier sheet of paper)

Instructions: Choose at least 3 Colors that you would like to use for your art. Next, pour the bubble solution into each of the three small cups and then add about 5 drops of food color into each of the cups. Each cup will hold one color for your palette. Now that you have your colors ready, you can begin experimenting with the colored bubble solution. Dip the wand into cup of bubble solution and with your paper placed on the table or grass, blow the bubbles towards your paper. You should try dipping your wand into two colors to see what new colors you can make for your canvas. Once your blow a few colors onto your paper, you can place it aside to dry. Please send any pics of what you created. I can't wait to see what you've made!!

For this week's Art activity, we are going to create prints using plants that you can find right outside in the yard or in your neighborhood. I would like you to gather a few flowers and or leaves that range in different sizes, at least 5-6 to have a good selection. Next, you will pour a good amount of paint onto a paper plate. If you have more than one color, you can pour the next colors, each onto a seperate sheet of paper. Once you have your paint set up, lay your white sheet of paper onto the table or on the ground. Now you would dip your first flower or leaf into the paint. Be sure not to get too much paint on the plant or the texture will not show up. If it helps, you could use a paint brush to add the paint evenly on the flower. When you feel good about the amount of paint on your flower, now it's time to make your print! Take your painted flower and press it onto your paper. How does it look? Cool, right!! Now try the rest of your flowers and leaves in all the colors!! You can also experiment with layering the plants on top of one another once they are dried or paint on one color on one end of the leaf and another at the opposite end. I would like to give a shout out to all the Doctors and Nurses that are on the front lines putting themselves and their families at risk to save the lives of the people in our city. We thank you so much and to help make your job easier we are staying home and making art!!
