What is Credit for Prior Learning or CPL?
Credit for prior learning (CPL) is the process of awarding college credit for undergraduate or graduate level skills and knowledge gained outside traditional academic settings, such as professional work, pre-service training , experiential learning , or other non-credit learning experiences. CPL can also be defined as an experiential learning experience or a prior learning assessment used to validate a student’s knowledge in a specific subject-content. At Relay, there are several common sources for CPL: online assessment, exam, portfolio, and performance demonstration.
