The PLM+ is a process for designing, delivering, and assessing the impact of our professional learning sessions. Incorporating the PLM+ process as our norm helps us intentionally address these questions:
How effective are we in learning-transfer?
What evidence can we gather to determine that learning has occurred?
What impact do we have on student achievement?
How do we model best practices for the classroom?
Are we improving our practice?
And, how do we know?
A Region 10 committee began working on expanding Region 10's Professional Learning Model in January, 2020. This video shares our WHY and the timeline of our initial rollout.
The design of a session begins with identifying needs and developing learning outcomes. SessionLab is a planning and curation tool that allows us to create the vision and flow of a session or meeting before creating slides.
Browse among hundreds of tried and tested workshop activities and templates and add the ones you need to your session plan.
You can try SessionLab for free, but to access our Team Workspace email ashley.wilson@region10.org.
The Design Lab was created to support implementation of the Professional Learning Model Plus (PLM+), use of the Design Essentials, and utilization of the Learning-Transfer Evaluation Model (LTEM) in the professional learning experiences you design.
The Lab provides a safe environment for professional learning designers to hone their skills and receive targeted support to implement the PLM+ success criteria.
Visit the Design Lab to:
generate ideas for strategies or activities with a thought partner.
solidify your understanding of the Design Essentials.
collaborate with colleagues and receive feedback on the design of your session or meeting.
explore methods and strategies to measure learning effectiveness (LTEM).
gain a fresh perspective on presentation design.

Before implementing the PLM+, the design team determined Region 10 professional staff might need a refresher of the "original" PLM. In addition, and especially with remote learning, the committee also decided to emphasize presentation aesthetics.
For those new to Region 10 or for those who want a PLM refresher, start with the resources linked below.
The Learning-Transfer Evaluation Model, or LTEM, is a tool that measures transfer, i.e. the immediate and future utilization of learning.
LTEM Micro-Course: Resources and information about designing professional learning that transfers to implementation
Before the PD session or meeting begins, it's important to consider the design of the event.
The Design Category includes four sections:
Content
Aesthetics
Environment
Plan for Delivery
The Design Essentials and the Learning-Transfer Evaluation Model are embedded throughout these subcategories.
Before presenting a new professional learning experience, it's important to get feedback from a colleague on the content and design of the new session.
Delivering professional learning that models relevant, innovative approaches in the areas of teaching, learning, and leadership is our aim.
The Delivery Category includes four sections:
Relevance
Environment & Communication
Facilitated Learning & Application
Collaboration & Reflection
Extension & Data Collection
As a learning organization we are committed to continuous improvement. The Reflect and Revise Category centers on gathering and analyzing multiple data sources to assess the impact of the learning experience and making adjustments as necessary.
