Each teacher at our Middle School has a website page that includes information about them, their class and daily assignments. Knowing what your student is studying is helpful in keeping them on track. This allows you to be able to ask your child specific questions about their day, such as, "How is Esperanza Rising? I know you're reading that in Ms. Ripley's class right now"
How to find these websites:
Start at https://www.redlodge.k12.mt.us/
Then click on the drop down arrow to the right of Explore (in the top right) and select Staff
Last, look through the staff list until you find the teacher you're looking for.
All parents are busy, whether you have one child or four and helping each child learn to manage their workload can be tricky. However, here are some helpful hints.
1) Set a schedule - whether you allow your child to take a break after school or expect them to get to homework right away, if it's consistent and you stick with it, it'll help set some routines and skills in time management for life
2) Set a consistent time each week to check Infinite Campus with your child and talk about grades. Set your family expectations for grades and missing work. This will be different for every family, but if you communicate with your child and follow up on the expectations, they will rise to the expectation.
3) Teach your child to advocate for himself. As parents, it's easy to want to "save" our child from failure or confusion. However, there are times when it's important that your student learns to ask questions and advocate for himself in order to improve in academics. For example, if your student needs to redo an assignment, ask them if they've spoken with their teacher about why and how they can improve their grades before you go to the teacher for them. Remember - you know you've learned the lesson when the behavior changes. If you don't let your child learn to advocate for themselves now, they will always be relying on you to "save" them from a poor grade.
