Last session-Closing Procedures

• (from Jackie) I usually ask the student what they've learned from our sessions and then talk about the importance of implementing what they've learned!! I tell them it would be a waste if they have the knowledge, but don't act upon it (using wisdom). I let them know that I've enjoyed working with them, I care about them and believe in them. I give them anything we've worked on to take home and share with their family.I always end with a hug!

• (from Deb) I usually give them a card. In the card, I write some of the main summary points from our sessions along with some encouraging words. I also give them a small gift. (pencil, etc.)

• (My sample card) Dear ________,

I have really enjoying meeting with you! Remember to use the tools you have learned in our sessions. I care about you and I believe in you! You can always come to me if you need someone to talk to.
