Overview: Theology at RLHS is designed to train students in Biblical literacy and prepare and equip them to adequately deal with and respond to the challenges encountered in a postmodern, pluralistic, and ever increasingly anti-Christian culture.
The Theology 2 curriculum serves as a survey of the New Testament.
Students will learn how to read Scripture and become familiar with the life of Jesus, as well as the history of the first century church.
Course Purpose & Standards: The purpose of this course is to study the Bible to discover the promises of God for our lives and the joy of living life as a Christian.
Based on the four Enduring Standards (ES) of the course, students will be able to:
Use the Circle of Context (Hermeneutics) - Acquire the textual assumptions and recognize one’s own assumptions and therefore the value in using Scripture to interpret Scripture
Understand The Foolishness of Yahweh vs. the Wisdom of Man - Understand the supremacy of Christ - the Jesus found in Scripture is always better than the Jesus that society constructs
Read and examine in depth the following books: Luke, Acts, Romans, Hebrews, Revelation, and one Epistle assigned to them. Read the entire Epistle assigned to them and exegete a given text. Recognize that only the text matters and learn to let the text speak. We are people of the Word - the living Word of Jesus.
Know the Gospel as laid out in Scripture
