Spanish 1 is an introductory course to both the Spanish language and the cultures where the Spanish language is spoken. Students will learn to form basic sentences in Spanish and conjugate regular verbs in the present tense. Grammatical concepts will be presented alongside vocabulary sets that will enable students to share information about their surroundings, hobbies and skills, family, the school day, and food. Students will work towards the acquisition of Spanish language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing each day in class.

Chapter PE—Greetings, classroom directions, numbers, telling time, parts of the body, classroom objects, Spanish alphabet, dates, and weather
Chapter 1A—Activities people like to do, verbs in the infinitive
Chapter 1B—Personality traits, adjectives, definite and indefinite articles
Chapter 2A— The school day, subject pronouns, present tense of -ar verbs
Chapter 2B—The classroom, location, the verb estar, plural nouns and articles
Chapter3A—Foods, present tense of -er and -ir verbs
Chapter 3B—Food groups and health, plural adjectives, the verb ser
Chapter 4A—Places, the verb ir, asking questions
Chapter 4B—Activities, near future, the verb jugar
Chapter 5A—Families, parties and celebrations, the verb tener, possessive adjectives
Chapter 5B— Describing family members, restaurant vocabulary, the verbs venir, ser, and estar
Chapter 6A—Bedroom items, colors, making comparisons, stem-changing verbs
Chapter 6B—Rooms in a house, chores, commands, present progressive tense
