For those without digital access, we have back up options available for each subject and some resources can be collected from our Library still if advance notice is given.
Most users will be able to access our digital distance learning options. Click here for our guidance, which is also at the bottom of this page.
Staff are working hard on continuing to make as many resources available online as possible for your child to access, particularly during this difficult time. This page outlines our generic approach to distance learning. The file below is live and provides some guidance on subject specific resources, outlining how each subject will provide feedback on student progress. This document will remain live on our school website in case we need to update any of the guidance.
To summarise our key messages regarding distance learning:
- We will set tasks through Show My Homework
- We will share resources and monitor progress through Google Classroom and subject specific resources
- Students do NOT need a Chromebook to be able to access the resources. All work set will be web based and can be accessed from any device connected to the Internet including PCs, Macs, Laptops, Tablets, Smartphones and more.
- All students have access to Google Drive apps and files through RMUnify, which they can access here:RMUnify Homepage for Students. Apps include Google Classroom, Docs, Slides and more, which can be opened and edited on any device. We recommend that students download the free app versions for their smartphones or tablets where possible too. Our RMUnify homepage also has quick links to other services we recommend such as Seneca and Bitesize.
- We sent a survey to all parents/carers and 100% of the responses so far confirmed that they have access to the Internet and a device that can connect to the Internet. If you have not yet completed the survey, please do so here: RCS Access to Digital Learning Survey for Parents/Carers
- We are preparing banks of printed and physical resources for any student who does not have access to the Internet and will be handing these out where possible this week. We will also look to have a collection service for these resources available potentially, with more information soon.
- We recommend that students try to follow their timetable where possible to bring some normality into their lives
- Staff will ensure that there is enough work being set. We will mark and feedback as much as possible in this fluid situation and constantly review our approach over the coming weeks.
- Parents/Carers should have access to Show My Homework. We are recommending students and parents/carers download the app for this and Google Classroom where possible. We are exploring the possibility of giving parent/carer access to Google Classroom too.
- If parents/carers have any issues with accessing Show My Homework, please contact our data officer jstevens@reddencourtcloud.co.uk
- We are advising that students use Google Classroom and Show My Homework where possible to contact their teachers as responses can be managed far better than through many emails. However, email options are also available by typing in the teacher's surname in the compose section of Gmail.
Thank you all for your support during this difficult time. We are constantly reviewing our offer and will do everything we can to support your child's learning from home.
