Our Developmental Guidance Program is a counselor-led, proactive model designed to support students as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of high school. This program empowers students with essential skills to thrive academically, explore career pathways, and grow personally and socially.
In addition to individual appointments, each student participates in a 5-7 week guidance seminar during the flex block every year, providing a dedicated time to build strong, supportive relationships with their counselor throughout their high school journey.
Our program evolves to meet the unique needs of students at each grade level:
Freshman Year: Focuses on fostering a sense of belonging and helping students adjust to the high school experience. October-December
Sophomore Year: Encourages students to find purpose and begin exploring career possibilities. March - May
Junior Year: Centers on exploring and researching postsecondary options, from colleges to vocational paths. January - March
Senior Year: Guides students through applying to colleges or programs and solidifying their post-graduation plans. September - October
MyCAP, My Career and Academic Plan, is weaved into our Developmental Guidance Program to help students plan for their future education, career goals, and personal aspirations. Click this link to learn more about the specific work we do with each grade level.
This comprehensive and developmental approach ensures that every student is supported in building the foundation for a successful future.
