RE-1 Valley Further Extends Distance Learning -

RE-1 Valley School District will continue Distance Learning through May 28, 2020, the last day of school for the 2019-2020 School year.

This decision is based on the current No In Person Learning and Stay at Home orders of Governor Polis and his direction that School Districts can lengthen their suspension of In Person Learning past the April 30 deadline.

It is the intention of the District to have students back in their buildings for the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Access to buildings will continue to be limited. Principals and directors will be contacting their staff members to make arrangements for summer preparation.

Commencement Activities for the Class of 2020 will be determined and communicated through High School Principals.

“While we may experience a few bumps and glitches, we are RE-1 strong. We appreciate all the work being done by our teachers and staff and thank the parents and community for their commitment and support through this challenging time.” Dennis Kaan, RE-1 Board President.

Greeting SHS parents. We hope that you have been able to pick up your child's belongings, secure a reliable device and reliable internet service and that your child has now established a routine for school.

SHS wants you to know that we care for your student and you. We are experiencing the same emotions as you - confused, unsure and yes overwhelmed.

We recognize that this is a difficult time for everyone involved, and that we are all learning about this process. We ask that you be patient and flexible as we move into this process. We know that there are going to be mistakes made by teachers and students and that things may change as the situation dictates and as we evaluate how our remote learning plan is working. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to teachers, so that we can work together to support your student. We want you to rest assured that teachers are considering all of the things that are impacting our students’ lives as they develop lessons and assignments. Our primary goal is to make sure that we are moving students forward as much as we can without overwhelming them and you. We will adapt to support your family where you are. Please reach out to us if you or your student become frustrated; don't let it become a family feud.

Everyone is going to be okay. No one will be permanently harmed by what we do or do not do during this time away from the classroom. Whenever we return to school, we will focus on determining where students are and moving them forward from there.

Please know that YOUR CHILD is the most important concern for us during this time. We care about your family, and we want this process to be as stress free as possible. This is a fluid situation, and we all have to be flexible as a result. As a school community, we will face this together, and together we will arrive on the other side the better for it.
