"Paws for Books"

Took place February 5-8, 2018

Between February 5 and 8 2018, Joseph Welsh School hosted Literacy Week under the theme, "Paws for Books."

Several literature based activities were planned, and included every student and staff member in the school. We also inspired families to extend literature based activities at home! It was a fun-filled week of reading, writing and more, all in the name of literacy promotion.

Growing Plans for the week...

Book Fair- Mrs. Grenier will be hosting the "Paws for Books" Book Fair in our lovely Learning Commons. Expect all the usual excitement around book fair, but with a particularly four legged flair:)
Kid's Council Fundraiser- Kid's Council will be creating a special calendar featuring the "Pets of Joseph Welsh," and raffling that off in support of the local SPCA.
Assembly- At the end of Literacy Week we will host an assembly to learn about responsible pet ownership, and the ethical treatment of our animal friends.
Classroom Activites-
1. Monday, Feb. 5
  1. "Traveling Story" begins in Kindergarten... and then travels each day along to the next grade (Mon K/1, Tues 2/3, Wed 4/5) until Thursday when the story will be presented to our students.
