Tara Lawrance is a School Counsellor at St. Joseph High School. She has been part of Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools since 2002, teaching a variety of subjects and grade levels throughout her career. In 2017, she completed her Master’s Degree in Counselling from the University of Calgary, specializing in Child and Youth Mental Health, Psychological Counselling, and Trauma-Informed Practices.
Mrs. Lawrance is passionate about her work in counselling because it allows her to walk alongside students, supporting their growth, resilience, and well-being. She feels privileged to support students each day.
Outside of school, Mrs. Lawrance enjoys a happy life with her husband and their two dogs, Bella and Jake. The Lawrance family loves spending time glamping at their second home just south of Sundre, where they can enjoy the outdoors, rivers, and mountains. This past summer was filled with campfires, friends, and quiet moments in nature.
Tara also has a love for painting, art, music, and games, and she treasures any opportunity to spend time outside. She is excited to begin another wonderful year at SJHS and looks forward to connecting with students and families throughout the school community.
Christy Magill is a School Counsellor at St. Joseph High School and has been with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools since 2004. She has taught a variety of subjects from grades 2-12 in her time within the division. She obtained her Masters in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University in 2018.
Mrs. Magill can help student navigate academic stress, friendships, family issues, or just feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what's next. She is here to listen without judgment and help others find ways to handle whatever they are going through.
She is happily married to her husband, Dwight, and together they have two awesome boys, Hudson and Ryker. Mrs. Magill and her family live in Red Deer but can often be sighted camping around the area. She also enjoys snow skiing, quading , baking, gardening, travelling, and relaxing by the fire pit in their backyard. She is blessed to have had the opportunity to travel around Europe this past summer with her family.
Christy is excited to be a part of the St. Joseph High School community and getting to know all of you!
