The School of Arts and Education at Red Deer Polytechnic appreciates the opportunities our community provides to our Pre-Service Teachers, Early Learning Child Care, and Educational Assistant students. We value the collaboration and mentorship from our program partners and school divisions/districts. Field experience relationships that flourish are reciprocal, both the student and mentor learn and grow together. Fostering collaboration, between placements and post-secondary, that supports our students in their teaching and learning development is a key component in what makes education programs successful.
We believe that modelling and promoting authentic learning experiences will prepare highly competent and dedicated educational professionals. Observations, practicum, service learning, tutoring, coaching and volunteering are ways that we can make this happen for our students.
For further information about our practicums, please select from the programs listed above.
Red Deer Polytechnic Land Acknowledgement
Red Deer Polytechnic recognizes that our campus is situated on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the central Alberta region we serve falls under Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land where RD sits. This is where we will strive to honour and transform our relationships with one another.
