Students used the engineering process to design and construct structures made from popsicle sticks. First, they researched different ideas of what to build, then they made their models. Finally, they evaluated their designs and improved them.
Sixth grade students have begun the Project Lead the Way Robotics and Automation course. In this course, students become interns at a fictional company, and learn how to solve customer needs by creating robots that will follow coded commands. In this lesson, students needed to create a machine that would carry supplies to people in need. They began by making a simple gear train.
