Indigenous/Native American Heritage Month

November is Indigenous/Native American Heritage Month!

November is Native American Heritage Month, sometimes called Alaska Native Heritage Month. The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Indigenous people. While the histories should be celebrated and incorporated into our work throughout the school year, this month is an opportune time to teach and learn about the unique challenges people have faced both historically and in the present - and the ways in which they have worked to conquer these challenges.  (National Congress of American Indians).
