PEAK

At Franklin Upper High School we will be implementing the PEAK guidelines to improve and foster our instruction and connections with students, families, staff, and community. Our instruction will provide Purpose, Essential skills, student/teacher Agency, and Knowledge that has

real-life connections.

Rochester's schools strive to provide a safe and productive learning environment that will help students become successful, responsible citizens. Our goal is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate fully in their education without disruption.

The District's Code of Conduct is written to promote a positive learning environment for all students. It spells out expectations for the responsible behavior of all partners in the school community: students, teachers, administrators and other staff, parents/guardians, and visitors to schools.

The District has developed, and its Board of Education adopted a Revised Code of Conduct on June 24, 2021, as Policy 1400, which governs the conduct of students, all school personnel, parents, and other visitors when on school property, while traveling in vehicles funded by the District, or while attending school functions.

Development of the Code of Conduct was overseen by the Community Task Force on School Climate, a collaboration between the District and numerous stakeholders facilitated by the Rochester Area Community Foundation. The process received support from a variety of places including the  Advancement Project; the Alliance for a Quality Education; the Education, Action and Change Committee of Facing Race=Embracing Equity; M.K. Gandhi Institute for Non-Violence; Metro Justice; Rise Up Rochester Inc.; Rochester Area Community Foundation; Rochester City School District; and Teen Empowerment.

School Emergency Plans

In addition, each school has a plan for responding to emergency situations that may occur during the school day. These include situations such as medical emergencies, weather-related emergencies, utilities failures (electricity, gas, water), and situations involving school safety and security.

The plans enable schools to be prepared in the event of an emergency and to protect the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. Plans are reviewed regularly by school staff and are updated in accordance with directives from District safety officials working in conjunction with state and federal agencies.
