Google Camp 2022


Presented by the Riverside County Office of Education in partnership with the Menifee Union School District, we are delighted to have provided this learning and sharing opportunity for K-12 teachers and administrators in Riverside County and beyond.


The summer program focuses on teaching and learning utilizing Google Apps for Education, Chromebooks, Google Classroom, and a variety of other educational solutions. It is designed to walk new online educators through the fundamentals of remote learning, introducing them into new strategies, tools, and troubleshooting abilities they'll need to teach with more confidence.

Julie Smith teaches in the Media Communications Department at Webster University in St Louis. She is the author of "Master the Media: How Teaching Media Literacy Can Save our Plugged-In World" and travels extensively speaking on the media, fake news, social media and classroom engagement strategies.

day 2 - welcome & keynote: Reframing the tale of digital equity

Critical issues, such as digital equity, have direct implications for learners and their communities. While the challenges related to access, connectivity, limited resources, and the “gaps” in education will be addressed in this talk, there is no better time than now to reflect and identify concrete equity-centered approaches to reframing the tale of Digital Equity. 

Education at the University of Redlands. Her research foci are STEM and computer science equity for Black girls, parent involvement, and teacher education. Dr. Howard's concern for certain inequities in education has led to publications in educational journals, such as the Urban Education Journal, e-Learning and Digital Media, the International Journal of Educational Technology, and Educause. She is the co-author of three recent publications, Coding+Math: Strengthen K-5 Math Skills with Computer Science, Closing the Gap: Digital Equity Strategies for Teacher Prep Programs, and Closing the Gap: Digital Equity Strategies for the K-12 Classroom. Nicol is also the co-founder and co-editor for the Journal of Computer Science Integration. Follow her @NicolRHoward
