Asking the Right Questions

Recent catastrophic and tragic events have provided all of us the opportunity to reimagine the potential of education + technology to empower all students. To provide all students an engaging, equitable and challenging learning environment, we must become experts at asking the right questions. By leveraging the power of inquiry, innovation and creativity, we can unleash every student’s potential.

Equity in Action CA: Making learning spaces more welcoming and inclusive

The Equity in Action CA team has been working for the past year on issues of diversity within our local education technology conferences. We've been asking the questions, "Who's in the room?" and "How can we diversify our community?" It's not enough, however, to invite a diverse community but we must also work on creating welcoming spaces that make people feel included. This session will help attendees understand how our identities influence our perception of inclusion and how we can design spaces (including our virtual classrooms) to make people feel welcome. Walk away with examples and resources for constructing your own welcoming space.
