Student reflection 1

On Wednesday we went to do wood carving, ate hot pot, explored shari through a group activity and ended the day with a dinner where we were given the freedom to select our preferred restaurant. The highlights today were definitely the exploration and dinner as we were given lots of freedom throughout both activities. The CAS learning outcome that we explored was Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. We needed to all contribute  the group activity when during the exploration of Shaxi and when picking the spot for dinner we needed to listen respectfully to proposals from peers. Tomorrow I am excited to start the 2 day hike on Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Student reflection 2

In the evening, we all gathered at the center of our Sha Xi guest house and got into our friendship groups in preparation for the group dinner. We each got 300 RMB for a group of 6 students to go out and eat at the restaurant of our choice that night. My group and I chose to eat at a local hotpot restaurant and ordered solely meat and noodles to fill out stomachs. The highlight of my night was when we all rushed to take a seat, and all ordered what we want within 5 minutes because of how hungry we were. The table was silent for the first few minutes of food and all you could hear was 6 teenagers enjoying their meal after a long day. After dinner, we all gathered back at the guest house to listen to Sabrina talk about the Tiger Leaping Gorge following the day after. She told us what we needed to pack in our carry ons, what to expect, and behaviours and expectations from the students. Im excited for our hike tomorrow and excited to see some awesome views.
