Pronunciation: Tuh-buh-SANE-nin-diz-zoh-win
Meaning: One of the seven grandfather teachings, meaning to hold oneself in low regard. This does not mean to think poorly of oneself, but rather to recognize how vast Creation is and that all of these beings â the land, the water, the animals, the minerals â existed long before us and shall exist long after us. These beings do not need us to survive, but we as humans depend on them. Humility is to recognize how little we are in the grand scheme of the world. We are solely but a dot in the scale of time.

The Sr. Girls bball team played two games yesterday over at RCI. Game 1 was against Mackenzie, and it was very back and forth. The offense was cold, but points were scored off our hot press. The team was not able to overcome some good shooting by the Deep river team and lost 38-31. Game two was against Jeanne Lajoie, and we switched to a successful man to man. Clamps Comparelli locked down players and got 10 points, and Serena Ducharme had many steals. Remi Stevenson and Addison Chaplin could not be stopped down low with 8 and 8 points. A 49-23 victory was the final result. Practices early today and tomorrow, and Opeongo on Thursday at 4:30.

National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
September 30th honours the children who never returned home from the residential school system, the survivors who carry their stories and the families and communities who continue to live with the intergenerational impacts of that system. More than 150, 000 children were separated from their families and sent to residential schools that were in operations from 1867 to 1996. This national day was established in response to the 94 call to action issued in the final report of Canadaâs Truth and Reconciliation Commission. As we mark 10 years of that report, it is a moment to reflect on recent advancements in recognizing and reinforcing Indigenous rights, but also how to preserve them as we continue to move forward.  Â

Algonquin Word of the Day: Tabasenindizowin
Translation: Humility
Pronunciation: Tuh-buh-SANE-nin-diz-zoh-win
Meaning: One of the seven grandfather teachings, meaning to hold oneself in low regard. This does not mean to think poorly of oneself, but rather to recognize how vast Creation is and that all of these beings â the land, the water, the animals, the minerals â existed long before us and shall exist long after us. These beings do not need us to survive, but we as humans depend on them. Humility is to recognize how little we are in the grand scheme of the world. We are solely but a dot in the scale of time.Â
