Stay up-to-date with all things Graduation on the Grad 2026 Google Classroom. 

ATTENTION GRADE 12 STUDENTS:

It is important that you frequently check the Grad Google Classroom. During the next few months representatives from numerous colleges and universities will be presenting VIRTUALLY to tell you about their campuses, programs, application and entrance procedures and will answer any questions you may have.

This is a great opportunity for you to start getting an idea of what you want to do and where you want to go. For each of these sessions, there will be an announcement and a link to the virtual presentation in the Grad Google Classroom.

ONTARIO OPEN HOUSES

Visiting College and University Campuses

Each college or university campus is notably different. Post-secondary education extends beyond the classroom into other aspects of campus life. These include places like the library, the cafeterias and coffee shops, the residences and off-campus housing settings, the recreational facilities, as well as cultural events, student governments and clubs, varsity, and intramural and recreational sports. Visit as many campuses as you can. This will help you get a “feel” for the life of the institution. Ask yourself, “Will this college or university meet my needs and expectations? Will I feel comfortable here?”

Many Canadian schools provide special VIRTUAL information days for secondary school students. Some of these events are designed for students who are interested in specific programs, such as engineering, environmental sciences or physiotherapy. Other special events, like VIRTUAL open houses, will provide an overview of the range of undergraduate and graduate programs available at that college or university.

VIRTUAL campus tours are available at most Canadian colleges or universities in the Fall and especially during March Break. Check individual school websites for more information.

TRANSCRIPTS

The Ontario Student Transcript is an official document which shows all credits successfully earned in grades 9 and 10, plus all courses continued past the full-disclosure date, each semester in grades 11 and 12.

If you have accepted or intend to accept an offer of admission to a university outside of Ontario, you will most likely need to send a final transcript directly to the university.  McGill, UNB, Concordia, Bishop’s, UVic, and UBC receive final grades through the OUAC application. All other universities outside of Ontario will require a transcript issued by SJHS with your final marks on it.  Please see the Guidance secretary to order your Official Transcript. Please give proper notice for the Guidance secretary to handle your request. This is YOUR responsibility!

Review of Graduation Requirements:

30 Credits

40 hours of Community Service

2 eLearning Classes

Passing of OSSLT (Literacy Test or OLC Course)

Volunteer Hours:

Many students have not yet submitted their 40 hours of community service. These are mandatory, and MUST be completed by the end of May. Check with your local community for events that might qualify. If you are unsure of how many hours you have logged, contact Student Services.

Bursaries:

As Graduation nears, many local businesses, organizations and community members will offer varying sums of money in the form of a bursary. Some bursaries will be chosen by the donor directly, some will be chosen by the school staff, and some will have an application component. Students need to pay close attention to the grad classroom as those bursaries requiring an application (likely a short essay) will be posted there. Read through the criteria for each bursary to see if you meet the requirements. You cannot be the successful recipient if you don’t apply!

Returning for a 5th Year:

There are various reasons why students may choose to return to SJHS for a 5th year. If you are thinking of returning, we are asking you to contact Student Services and let them know why you are returning, and what your plan is; ie. what courses you plan on taking. Casually attending classes, or total lack of engagement will not be tolerated. If you are choosing to come back - make a plan, and use it to help you make the year as productive as possible! If you are eligible to graduate but are planning on coming back for a 5th year, you can either walk across the stage this year at graduation or wait until next year. Student Services must be informed of which you intend to do. Some bursaries state that the student must be attending a post secondary institution in the fall in order to be eligible for the award, so waiting until the year you are leaving SJHS would ensure that you met that requirement. 

Graduation Photo Day reminder notice for Dec. 3-5, 2025. Students can go to http://bookmygrad.ca to book an appointment for their photos, school code for St Joseph High School is SPG. 

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Edge Imaging photographers will be at St. Joseph’s High School on December 3, 4, and 5 to take graduation photos. Please have your student visit bookmygrad.ca and use School Code: SPG to book an appointment.

There are several sitting options and fees to choose from. A credit card is required to complete the booking. If you select and pay for a sitting, your student will receive a class composite in their graduation diploma package.

Please note:
Students who only sit for the yearbook photo (with no paid sitting) will not receive a class composite.

In addition, we will be having a Grad meeting on December 2nd Period 1 and Period 3 for those students who could not attending in the morning.
