PLAYGROUP

LITERACY

This week, the Playgroup learner participated in making ‘F for Fox’. Letter recognition enables children to figure out how printed text is associated with the spoken language. Having a mastery of letter friends can make learning letter sounds easier for young readers. This activity also helps the learner get an exposure to a wide range of vocabulary, which they can incorporate into their daily conversations and communication.

NUMERACY

Block play engages spatial sense and motor abilities. Blocks and other loose parts can be moved freely by children, to be combined and recombined in countless ways. Important numeracy concepts and skills are practiced and strengthened through block play, including length, measurement, comparison, number, colors etc. This week, we revised our numbers using block play by sequencing the numbers forwards and backwards from 1 to 10 and vice versa.

UNIT OF INQUIRY

The little learners of the Playgroup have been inquiring into the unit of ‘All About Animals & Birds’. This week, we explored more on ‘how animals help us’. The learner identified products we get from different animals. Later, we matched the animals to the products they give us like the cow gives us milk, sheep gives us wool, chicken gives us eggs and so on. This learning engagement helped the learners to appreciate and be thankful to the animals for everything they provide us with. The children developed the learner profile of ‘caring’.
