LITERACY

This week K2A learners were introduced to sounds ‘tr’ & ‘er words, while reading through PowerPoint presentation. Learners were very reflective as they came up with new words and also made meaningful sentences for the new sounds learnt.

K2A learners look forward to the ‘Kahoot’ game and this week they were seen enjoying the Kahoot game as an assessment on ‘Opposite words’, which they later wrote and also made sentences with it.

Action words were introduced to the learners through a brain break session, where learners played a game on doing actions like jumping, dancing, drinking etc. Later they read a passage and pointed out the 'Action' words in it. Through a video they learnt that action words are called ‘VERBS’ and also inquired into new action words. Learners wrote the verbs and also made sentences on it.

NUMERACY

K2A learners have mastered the skill of solving word problems with addition & subtraction independently and accurately. They revised the concept of measurements on ‘Meters & centimeters’ and also learnt how to draw lines using a ruler, measuring the given centimeter.

This week they were introduced to 3D shape ‘Cube’, where their prior knowledge was tested through the magic bag activity. The objects with 2D and 3D shapes were shown and learners had to distinguish whether it’s a 2D or 3D shape. They also enjoyed the ‘SEE THINK WONDER’ activity where a Rubik cube and a cheese slice was shown and they had to compare the shapes. Learners grasped the properties of the ‘Cube’ accurately and could also manage to draw the shape. They were super excited to go hunting for ‘Cube’ shaped objects in their surroundings and most of them got objects like a Rubik cube, ice cube, gift box, tissue box etc. Later they were seen constructing a ‘Cube’ shaped model using clay and toothpick, and most of them did an amazing job on it.

UNIT OF INQUIRY

This week learners were introduced to the life cycle of a plant, where they shared their prior knowledge and also saw a video on it. Learners expressed their understanding on the ‘Life cycle of a plant’ by drawing and labelling the stages of the life cycle of plants and also sent an amazing video talking about it. Most of them were very reflective and also wrote passages on the ‘life cycle of a plant’ in their own words to explain the stages.

Learners also reflected well on the ‘Seed challenge’ taken by them, where they linked the 3rd line of inquiry ‘caring for the plants’. They explained the growth of their plant and what measures were taken by them to protect and take care of their plant, they explained the ‘Plant growth chart' where they recorded the data of their growing plant.

Learners also posted their chart on ‘What plants- Have, need & give’ to express their understanding on the 1st & 2nd line of inquiry - ‘What plants give us and other living things’ and ‘Structure of a plant’.

ART

While learning about plants for the unit, our K2 learners made their own tulip plant with the help of Origami. In the previous session, they made the flower and in this session they made the stems and the leaves. They enjoyed learning origami craft.
