In Language arts, Grade 1 learners demonstrated their understanding of pronouns such as ‘he’ and ‘his’, as they sorted pronoun word(s) that would fit in each of the given sentences appropriately. Similarly, they demonstrated their knowledge about pronoun words such as: ‘she’ and ‘her’ when they independently wrote sentences that included these pronoun words in relevant ways.

Learners demonstrated their linguistic skills which they developed when they viewed different pictures and confidently framed their own sentences. This included: pronoun words like ‘he’, ‘his’, ‘she’ and ‘her’.

In the Unit of Inquiry, ‘Air’, students expressed their understanding about vocabulary words such as: ‘resources’ and ‘prediction’. In addition, they found out the meaning of a new word - ‘outcome’.

In Math, learners used appropriate vocabulary in different scenarios. This included words like: ‘whole’ and ‘half’. They also found out about different kinds of vocabulary words such as: ‘fractions’, ’upon’, ‘one fourth’, ‘quarter’, ‘three fourths’, ‘three quarter’, ‘numerator’ and ‘denominator’.
