FANTASTIC GRADE 4

Fantastic Grade 4.pdf

Celebrating learning about the culture of international countries.

‘Culture is about widening of the mind and of the spirit’

- Jawaharlal Nehru

Exploring other cultures, languages, religions locally and globally help children to learn about the unique and amazing things that come from other cultures and ways of life. Celebrating different cultures brings to light new thinking and understanding. Learners understand that there is never a right or wrong way- and that all of us are different and unique in our own way. This type of learning makes them open minded and encourages them to be creative thinkers.

Grade 4 learners researched on the Countryof ‘Netherlands’. They learnt about the Netherlands, it’s location, history, flag, customs, beliefs, traditions, famous places, personalities, language etc.

We also had Mr.Martin Huhn (in house Teacher) as our guest speaker who helped us enhance our knowledge about the customs and traditions practiced in the Netherlands.

In order to celebrate their learning, Grade 4 learners shared and exchanged their learning with the Grade 5 who also celebrated their learning on UAE.

Learners presented their research work, a few of them dressed up in their traditional dress, performed a traditional dance, made visual presentations and also spoke a few words in Dutch language. They also connected a few customs and traditions to the Indian culture and shared their understanding on how they are similar and yet different.

Learning of cultures helps build tolerance, curiosity and respect for others. The more learners are aware of other cultures, the more they will be able to recognize the beauty of diversity!

The learners of Grade 4 and 5 shared their research work and understanding of the culture of two different countries (The Netherlands and The UAE).
