Did You Know?
Our 4K students read four versions of the “Gingerbread Man” this week. They made their own classroom gingerbread man, but he ran away before they could eat him! Good thing he left clues that allowed him to be found. And, to add to the gingerbread fun, our 4k wraparound care students built and created their very own gingerbread houses.
4th graders are working collaboratively in ELA to demonstrate their understanding of the features found in informational text. Their goal is to create an informational text poster of an animal that they wanted to learn more about. After researching and planning their posters, students created their final projects with facts, headings, graphics and captions.
TECH NEWS:
As we enter the Polar Vortex or just winter temperatures be aware that electronics combined with cold can cause numerous issues. Do not keep your phone, Chromebooks, Laptops and other electronics outside (even stored in a vehicle) for any period of time. LCD screens can actually freeze. If you leave a device in the cold, even temperatures in the 30's or 40's, let alone sub-arctic lows, devices need to warm slowly, outside of a case, before turning them on (At least 2-3 hours). They need to get to room temperature in a normal manner. Turning on a device that is cold can cause condensation which is defined by the Internet as: water which collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact with it.
SCIENCE SAYS: Water and electronics are not a good mixture.

Summer School
A cold, snowy forecast is the perfect time to remind you about Raymond School Summer School! 2023 Summer School will:
START on June 12th
FINISH on June 30th
Classes will run Monday - Friday, 7:30-12:30. Panther Pride will be offered in the afternoon to students enrolled in Summer School.
Parking Reminders
Drop off - Keep pulling forward along the curb toward the playground - All children should exit on the drivers side of the vehicle. Students should be able to exit vehicles without assistance. Exit should not begin until your vehicle is by door 13 or beyond (students should not exit in the driveway and walk up to door 13 on the grass). If students exit in lane 2 or 3 they should walk toward the flag pole where an adult will direct them to cross.
Afterschool Pick up - Stay in your vehicle. If you need to assist a student, take a parking spot and walk along the crosswalk toward the building. The adult toward the playground will direct lanes when they should exit.
*Please be mindful of keeping your vehicle on the pavement - driving through curbs and on the grass creates muddy ruts and destroys the appearance of our campus.
Inclement Weather
In the event that school needs to be cancelled due to snow, dangerous conditions or inclement weather you will receive notification in a variety of formats. You may view the closing information on Channels 4,6, and 12. A Skylert voicemail and a Messenger email will be sent as notification. Our school closing details will be shared via social media as well.
*These "snow days" will be traditional emergency days off of school. Students will NOT be asked to attend classes virtually.
Check the Raymond Community Calendar below for the daily events that are scheduled.
This includes field trips, concerts, end-of-the-year events, School Board / PTO meeting dates, and more.
