Day 7
Saturday 21st August 2021
Saturday 21st August 2021
Gloves washed and drying on the line in readiness for the final weekend of digging........
A wet afternoon on Day 7 of the dig but that didn't stop the young archaeologists turn up to the dig.
It was all hands to work in the sand pit, and team work meant that almost every 'treasure' was discovered: the large ammonite, the piece of Ramsey Abbey dressed stone, British and Roman coins, piece of clay pipes, fossil shells, pieces of tile and much, much more.
MEANWHILE, over at the main pits something was attracting the attention of archaeologists young and old.
In the pit where the large block of concrete had been found last week everyone had to dig deeper and deeper......
On the final day of the dig we hope our young archaeologists will get to the bottom of things and enable the team to make some clear conclusions about what this area has to tell about it's past.
Across the way- an 'awesome' piece of pottery was discovered and placed carefully into the 'Finds Tray'.
This will be added to the total finds for the day.
What you said....
They learnt about anmmonite, dinosaur poo, dinosaur teeth, and Roman coins. They had a great time and said it was 'awesome'. Thank-you, they had a brilliant time and will definitely be back!
Great activity- something that's not found often. Fun and educational- Thank you.
Worked well for our 6 year old and 1 year old so they were both able to take part.
And while all this was going on, there was a very special visitor to the Whitehall Barn.......come along and meet him!
