The weather stayed fine albeit a bit windy for some of the time but 18 young people (and a dad and a couple of mums) turned up to dig in the pits (and in the sand pit) on this first day of the dig in 2022.
Many stayed for nearly the whole afternoon and just as four o'clock came round the dark clouds gathered over our heads and chivvied us into clearing up quickly.
It wasn't long before items started to be discovered in the ground - lots of stones and rocks (of course) but also some coprolite (dinosaur poo!), coal, metal items including this shaped piece above.....what is it?
Looking forward on Day 2 to seeing what happens when we dig around these interesting stones and bricks in Pit Number 1.
