  • asks for reasons and evidence in support of a claim

  • questions the accuracy, validity, and reliability of information or evidence

  • deliberatively seeks different points of view and considers their merits

  • identifies personal and cultural biases in self and others

  • views issues and problems on a macro and micro level

  • recognizes that complex issues are nuanced, containing shades of grey, and can tolerate ambiguity

  • is willing to change their mind when presented with new evidence or compelling reason

  • Makes arguments connecting claims, evidence, and reasoning
