In 2013, Raleigh County became the first school system in the State to implement a one-to-one iPad device initiative so that all students would have equitable access to technology and be prepared to be life-long creative learners, communicators, and critical thinkers in this digital age. In 2021, secondary students made the switch from using iPads to Chromebooks, while elementary students continued with the iPad devices. Teachers are provided with a MacBook and have the opportunity to receive an iPad. Whichever device is being used, it is an integral part of daily instruction. Most content used in classrooms is digital in nature so having access to a device is vital when teaching and learning.
