What is Naviance?

Naviance is a college and career readiness program that helps connect academic achievement to post-secondary goals. Its comprehensive college and career planning solutions optimizes student success, enhance school counselor productivity, and tracks results for school and district administrators. Students are first introduced to Naviance in the lower school and will continue to use the program until graduation.

Students are encouraged to access Naviance to:

• Research colleges, majors, and careers

• Complete interest inventories to identify potential careers

• Build their resume (track extracurricular activities, leadership positions, part time jobs, awards, etc.)

Students will use Naviance to:

• Request and track transcripts for colleges and NCAA

• Request teacher and counselor letters of recommendation

• Track application responses

  • Sign up for college visits

Over time, students will be able to see:

• Average GPA, SAT, and ACT scores of Renaissance Academy students who have applied to a specific college

• How many Renaissance Academy students from a specific class applied to a college

How to Use Naviance

Accessing Student Account

• http://student.naviance.com/racs

• Your login is your RA email address

• Your password is set by the student

• If you forget password, click “I forget password” in order to reset your account **Be sure to close all open Naviance windows before trying to log in again!

About Me Tab

• Complete the “game plan.” The information that you provide here will notify your counselor of your plans for after high school. When finished click “save changes and I am finished.”

• Resume- continue tracking your extra-curricular activities, sports, community service, etc.

Careers Tab

• Complete the "career cluster finder"

• Complete the “career interest profiler.”

• “Explore Careers and Clusters”

- use this option if you know of a specific career or career category

- You can add careers to your saved list by clicking the “add to my list” at the top of the page where the description of the career is

- When researching careers; other related careers and suggested majors will be listed to provide you with options

• Save potential careers

College Tab

• College Search- select criteria specific to you such as location, major, size, etc. to provide you with a list of schools that match specifically what you are looking for in a college

• College Compare- you can list up to 10 schools to compare

• College Resources- offers websites for college, career, and financial planning

• College Maps- map showing where previous Renaissance Academy students have been accepted, where they are attending, and most popular schools that RA students applied to Acceptance History- provides statistical data on acceptance from previous Renaissance Academy students

• Scattergrams- graph that provides statistical information to compare yourself with previous RA students who have been accepted at the college you are considering (this area is still “under construction” because more data will need to be collected over time for comparisons)

• Save potential colleges

• Enrichment Programs- summer pre-college experience and leadership seminars for high school students

JUNIORS should complete these additional steps:

• Add potential colleges to your list- identify and create a list of potential colleges in which you are interested.

SENIORS should complete these additional steps:

• Resources in the left hand column

• Transcripts- can view the date that your transcripts were sent to a college electronically
